Mullinax Solutions recently conducted an Energy Audit for a 44,000 SqFt facility in Floyd County, GA. The owner complained not only of high energy bills, but also discomfort caused from the HVAC system. Mullinax Solutions surveyed the entire HVAC system which included (2) multi-zoned air handler unit, multi-staged compressors and power induction units throughout the building. In troubleshooting the mechanical system, Mullinax Solutions discovered a number of mechanical problems with the equipment and ducts as well as inefficient control programming in the BAS system. In addition, the lighting system was audited as well as the operation of the building including computer and water heater usage. In response to this audit, the owner begin implementing some of these changes in Feb of 2008, and the monthly energy bills were reduced dramatically. See figure below for the monthly savings achieved by these recomendations. |
